Customer Review: good beginner book
Very good starting point for raising discus.Well laid out, easy read, good value. I have two other books by Degen but this is the one i keep picking up to browse.
Customer Review: Better Than New
I BOUGHT THIS BOOK MANY YEARS AGO AND WENT TO BUY IT AGAIN AND ENDED UP WITH THE LATEST EDITION. THE LATEST EDITION IS MISSING ALOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT THIS BOOK HAS. IF YOU ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF DISCUS FISH THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. THE NEW EDITION HAS BETTER PICTURES BUT THAT IS WHERE IT ENDS. BUY THIS BOOK

The Discus: An Owner's Guide toa Happy Healthy Fish (Happy Healthy Pet)
Written by tropical fish experts with over 30 years experience, The Discus includes all the information a new fish keeper needs to begin this exciting hobby: how to select a tank; proper water conditions; nutrition; and breeding your own beautiful fish. Like all the titles in the Owner's Guide series, The Discus is filled with info-packed sidebars and striking color photos. This book helps make keeping Discus a fun and rewarding experience for the hobbyist.
Customer Review: Absolute Rubbish
I bought this book thinking I will get more knowledge about Discus keeping .But after going through the book I changed my opinion and think buying this book was absolute waste of money and time. Information given in the book is too general for any aquarium fish and not for Discus fish in particular. Not worth spending you precious money and time.
Customer Review: Just the basics
This is a great book if you know next to nothing about discus. It gives you all the specs you may need to know to keep healthy beautiful discus and even the basics on breeding with some nice pictures. It also repeats alot of information for reference purposes. However, if you need a detailed discription of the care of discus you will be diapointed with this one. I recomend you purchase it with another more detailed book that may overlook the more simple aspects of discus care.

Cichlids: Understanding Angelfish, Oscars, Discus, and Others (Fish Keeping Made Easy)
With a focus on recreating natural habitats and providing the ideal environment for successful keeping, this book contains troubleshooting advice and remain useful long after the aquarium is set up, so readers will enjoy them for years to come.
Customer Review: Good book for cichlid beginners
The book itself is recommended for people who are stepping into the world of cichlids. If you're deciding wether or not you'd like to keep cichlids or deciding on which cichlid species to keep this is the book for you. It covers most basics of cichlid keeping, describes differences between different sorts of these fish. Everything is backed up with great pictures. The book will sure make a lot of influence to your decision on which cichlids to choose. Some most common speciers are described in more detail. Overall, you'll find basic information on all aspects of cichlid keeping (tank setup, equipment, feeding, breeding, illnesses etc.). However, if you're making your first aquarium, I personally recommend that you buy some beginner guidebook on setting up aquariums. Also, once you choose the kind of cichlids to keep, you'll probably want to buy another book which describes the chosen species in more detail. This book would be a waste of money for professionals. Four stars are given because I think that some topics could have been covered in some more detail.
Customer Review: Amazing Book
This book has so much information than any other book I have read. It contains a brief history of the cichlids and where they can be found. This book also tells you how to set up your cichlid aquarium and tips for maintaining your aquarium.
